The Mac mini

The Mac mini is the smallest and economic Macintosh that Apple has ever produced. The computer takes the form of a small box and in the Its first version was based on the last iBook G4 motherboard
suitably amended to make it square. The computer is very small and currently has an Intel Core 2 Duo at frequencies between 2.4 and 2.66 GHz.
The Mac mini features a graphics card NVIDIA GeForce 320M with 256MB shared memory, accompanied by a Mini DisplayPort with support for resolutions up to 2560 × 1600 and an HDMI output with support for resolutions up to 1920 × 1200.

The computer was born to be an economical alternative to IBM compatible and it is sold without a monitor, keyboard or mouse so that the buyer can recycle any parts already in his possession. An interesting feature of the Mac mini is the low noise. The computer is equipped with an electronically controlled fan that produces up to 22 dB of noise. The noisiest component in your computer is the hard disk, which can be up to produce 30 dB during random access. So, the Mac mini is one of the quietest computers in the market.

Current versions available for sale: Mac mini 2.4 GHz: 2 GB of RAM DDR3 1066MHz (expandable to 8 GB), 5 USB ports, 320 GB HD, SuperDrive 8x double layer. Snow Leopard Server Mac mini with 2.66 GHz 4 GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM (expandable to 8 GB), 5 USB ports, Dual 500 GB HD (1 TB total) at 7200 rpm.
The shape of the Mac mini is very reminiscent of an older model computer manufactured by Apple, the Apple Cube. This computer, as the name implies, was of cubic form (apparently an old love of Steve Jobs as the NeXT workstation), and yet providing an interesting design, was a commercial failure because of its high cost and the its lack of expandability. The Mac mini, but bear in mind the Cube is much more subtle, in fact you can stack almost 5 Mac mini inside the plastic shell of the Cube. With the update of 15 June 2010, the Mac Mini is even more thin and provided with unibody aluminum casing as many of the current Apple products.

GarageBand

The program is for non-professional users with extensive knowledge of HD Recording and can not be used by those who can not play any musical instrument. In fact, almost all the operations of composition and arrangement take place in a simple and intuitive graphical environment.
The program comes with a library of pre-recorded loops to be used freely to compose and 50 virtual instruments that can be used directly through a virtual keyboard on the computer, through any musical instrument that can be connected to the computer using the input jack or audio interfaces for third parties, or through a MIDI keyboard connected to an interface audio. Apple also offers the GarageBand Jam Packs, libraries of loops and virtual instruments add to enrich the library of GarageBand. The Internet contains Loop Vistual Instruments and third-party purchase, or even freeware.
You can compose music in two different ways: software instrument tracks and traces of real instruments. The first uses virtual instruments provided by the program. Notes can be recorded in real time (real-time) through one of the methods mentioned above or included in, or change in programming (step-time). The editing of notes is possible through the piano-roll mode or traditional notation. The second use recorded audio data in real time through one of the methods mentioned above. You can record, for example, guitars, keyboards, voice, and then apply effects to audio recorded. Software and real instrument tracks can be mixed together and used to manage complex arrangements.
You can import MIDI tracks created with other programs but can not be edited. You can not export MIDI tracks. The music created can be exported as AIFF, AAC and MP3 through integration with iTunes.
From '09 version includes eight interactive lessons based on piano and guitar with Tim Blane 8 as a teacher. You can also purchase classes by famous artists such as Sting.
The major limitations to the use of GarageBand was impossible to change the time (limitation disappeared with version 08) and the key of a track if not for the whole project. It is therefore not possible to compose pieces of music with key variables. These limitations make sure the software suitable for amateur or semi-professional but hardly suitable for professional use. For these purposes there are other programs from Apple, such as Logic Express (semi-professional) and Logic Pro (professional).
GarageBand comes with the iLife package and can not be purchased separately. Was presented by Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO, during the keynote January 6, 2004. The singer John Mayer showed up with the Jobs program.
GarageBand was originally developed by Emagic, the same company that developed the program of professional music Logic Audio. Apple acquired the company in July 2002 and includes iLife GarageBand project.
